Guide of the Types of Music Italo Likes

Ambient

Kalaido

Kalaido is one of the greatest lo-fi artists of all time in my humble opinion. He uses some Asian music and instrument themes, which I really think fit perfectly into his style.

hario island

hario island is significantly different from Kalaido, maintaining their own style, using a lot more synthetic instruments and repeating progressions. Very relaxing / good for studying and keeping your mind stimulated.

Chill

Coldplay

Coldplay is one of my favorite bands because of their relaxed approach to rock and typically peaceful lyrics. Their singer also has a very nice voice.

Moby

Moby is a really crazy artist who uses amazingly picked voice samples in his somewhat minimalist songs to create a bunch of masterpieces. Definitely worth checking out.

Jazz

Bossa Nova

João Gilberto

João Gilberto is one of the most renowned Bossa Nova artists and therefore has some of the most well know pieces. I love "The Girl from Ipanema," and "Tin Tin por Tin Tin."

Astrud Gilberto

Astrud is João's wife and has one of the most lovely voices I have ever heard.

Sérgio Mendes

Sérgio Mendes also has some of the most well know pieces in the genre, I'm a big fan of "Sambinha Bossa Nova."

Classic American

Sarah Vaughan

I learned about Sarah Vaughan when I was looking for music to audition to Jazz Choir at my school (it went really poorly, but not because of the music; my fault). I like the sound of her voice, and the jazziness of the music is great too.

Big Band

Glenn Miller

Everyone needs to listen to "In the Mood," and "Moonlight Serenade," by Glenn Miller. Some of the greatest songs ever written.

Rock

Incubus

Incubus has a really great tenor vocalist (it's okay, all good pop singers are tenors, Evan...). Anyway, their music is really great for me because of their diversity in musical choices compared to any other rock band. Like for real, they got really creative on a bunch of their songs.

311

Honestly, I just like 311 because they wrote "Amber," which is super fun to listen to. They rest of their music is fun, too, I like the reggae-esque sound.

Classical

More Modern

Erik Satie

No one knows the name, but lots of people like Satie's first "Gymnopédie." I also like "Je te veux." Preferably the instrumental version (opera is only ok).

Classic Classical

I'll figure it out later

Alternate

Faboo

Tally Hall

Ok, ok. Tally Hall is the only band to actually consider themselves part of the faboo genre. I only added the faboo genre because it's fun to look at. But Tally Hall made really great music (only 2 albums 😭 and a single that honestly sucks, I never listened to the full thing).

But Tally Hall has some of my all-time favorite songs, so definitely worth a listen.

Breakcore

Hear me out. Breakcore (mostly without the anime samples, but those are fine too) is really great. Don't believe me? Then you gotta check it out. I won't even try to explain it.

If you're comfortable with it, you should try to listen to it loud enough that you can't hear anything else.

strxwberrmilk

My preferred breakcore artist. Some of the better songs in the genre. Of course, you gotta check out "My Head Hurts," "Go With the Flow," "Sientemente Estoy Aquí."

Emray

A bunch of Emray's songs are also great, I like "Zero Communication," and "Bed Head."
